We have had a number of new folks join us midway through the conference, today. A handful of new topics were announced at morning news and we had a few rounds of John Lennon's line: "all we are asking, is give peace a chance," as we are all quite aware of the stories that continue to unfold in Washington, Iraq and North Korea and other places around the world where people are demonstrating today for peace. And then we started into a full day of working and learning sessions.

On the last morning, we re-opened the space for last topics, for actions, last details, and other things needed to complete the conference for those still present. We burned CDs so that all participants took all the notes, two short movies, a pile of photos and a copy of everybody's contact info home with them. We finished a closing circle that ended with an interactive prayer for peace and some real interest in keeping the space opening opening opening into the future.

Day One Reports - Friday, February 14th

Opening of the Space - MichaelHerman, Facilitator

More than 200 people have gathered here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This morning when everyone arrived in the main (big) conference ballroom, the wall -- and our agenda -- was totally blank. In about an hour, we -- all of us, that is -- created a full conference agenda that perfectly fits the people who are here.

It's just past lunchtime, now, and the second breakout session is in full swing. The full agenda is posted below and may be expanded as new issues come up. Each session was named and is being convened by one or more people who are passionate about the issue. The converners are keeping the notes in each session and coming to a bank of computers and typing them up so that they can be posted here and also posted on the news wall here in the ballroom.

Have a look at the reports linked below and stay tuned for more, as they become available... and please note that the pages posted here were typed up in a simple database format, as working documents, in the midst of high learning, high play, and no spellchecking!

Our first full day ended with a small(ish) evening news circle that saw a few announcements and a couple of rounds of singing, before we adjourned for dinner and a children's handbell and handchime concert. By all accounts, a really great day in open space.

Day Three Report - Sunday, February 16, 2003

what else? what next? what results? ...stories, actions and a closing circle.
