We will be meeting at the Egan Urban Center at DePaul University, 243 South Wabash, in the heart of downtown Chicago.
This is at Adams and Wabash, just one block west of the Art Institute of Chicago. Wabash is the eastern side of the Loop made by Chicago's elevated trains.
- By CTA train, all Loop elevated trains (Orange, Brown, Green, Purple) will stop at Adams and Wabash. Subway trains (Red, Blue) run just a block or two over under State and Dearborn Streets.
- If you stay with friends in the suburbs, many trains will get you to Union or Northwestern stations and you can surf the wave of commuters about a mile (very much walking distance in Chicago) across the Loop to the Egan Center. Some other trains will bring you closer. Where you end up downtown all depends on which suburb you start from. Ask your hosts.
- By car, we'll be just north of Congress Street, where I-290 ends. Parking starts at $20 or so for the first three hours. We're very much a public transportation sort of town.
- From the airport, the CTA Blue Line will bring you in from O'Hare and the Orange Line comes from Midway. Airport shuttle buses to downtown hotels are an affordable option. Airport cabs might be $30-$35.
